From a nearly century-old Georgia home to a handcrafted bedroom built for making new memories.
Every custom build at W² Wood Co. begins with a conversation. This one started when Mike reached out to us through social media with an idea for the getaway home he shares with his wife in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
He was looking for something more than ordinary bedroom furniture. He wanted a king-size bed and two matching nightstands that would complement their home's rustic character while bringing a little history of their own into the room.
What started as a message soon became a custom build plan, bringing together reclaimed Georgia timber, Mike's vision, and the craftsmanship of our father-and-son workshop.
A Piece of Georgia's Past

Some of the wood selected for this project came from an old home in Bleckley County, Georgia, believed to have been built sometime in the 1920s.
We can't say for certain when the house was constructed, but the antique heart pine reclaimed from it carries the character of timber that has seen generations come and go.
Its aged surfaces, natural grain, and imperfections tell a story that new lumber simply cannot duplicate.
To complement that heart pine, we incorporated additional reclaimed beams sourced from Oxford, Georgia.
Two different sources, each with their own history, were brought together for one purpose: creating a bedroom set that would last for generations to come.
From a Conversation to a Custom Build

Working with Mike, we developed a plan for a custom king-size bed and two matching nightstands.
The design needed to feel substantial enough for the rustic setting of their Pine Mountain home while allowing the natural beauty and history of the reclaimed wood to remain the centerpiece.
Back in our W² workshop, Flint and I began turning that plan into reality.
The heavy reclaimed timbers became the foundation of the bed, with each piece carefully selected and worked into the design.
We wanted to preserve the marks, textures, and character that made this wood special rather than make it look like something new.

The matching nightstands were designed to carry that same character throughout the room, creating a complete bedroom set that felt connected without losing the individuality of each piece.
No two pieces of reclaimed timber are exactly alike, and that's part of what makes a build like this special.
A New Home for Old Timber

There's a moment in every custom build when the work leaves our shop and finally finds the place it was made for.
For this project, that place was Mike and his wife's getaway home in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Once the bed and nightstands were installed, the reclaimed heart pine and heavy timbers looked right at home among the warm wooden walls and rustic surroundings.
What had once been part of an old Georgia home was now the centerpiece of a completely different home, ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

Old Wood. New Memories.
At W² Wood Co., we believe the best part of working with reclaimed wood isn't simply giving it another use. It's knowing that its story gets to continue.
This project brought together antique heart pine from Bleckley County, reclaimed beams from Oxford, and a vision that began with a simple connection through social media.
We're grateful to Mike and Lisa for trusting Flint and me to create something personal for their Pine Mountain getaway.
Nearly a century after that old Bleckley County home is believed to have been built, a part of its story continues in a new place, where new memories are waiting to be made.
